It is subjective to determine the greatest leader, as different leaders have excelled in different areas. However, one leader who is often regarded as one of the greatest is Nelson Mandela. Mandela showed extraordinary strength and determination in leading the fight against apartheid in South Africa, despite facing imprisonment and adversity. His commitment to justice, reconciliation, and equality inspired countless individuals around the world. Mandela's ability to forgive his oppressors and work towards a peaceful transition to democracy solidified his legacy as a truly transformative leader. I believe Mahatma Gandhi was the greatest leader of all time. He led the independence movement in India using "peace, love, and integrity," allowing India to gain independence in 1947. His ideas paved the way for India's law and government and allowed it to become the great democratic nation it is today. Even decades after this movement, many other movements such as the Civil Rights movement led by MLK and the African National Congress movement led by Nelson Mandela were also inspired by Gandhi's movement. For this reasons, I believe Gandhi is the greatest leader of all time.

Over the length of history, many significant leaders have rose and built the foundations of human civilization and interaction; thus, it is nearly impossible to select one individual as the greatest. However, at the forefront of this race, Mahatma Gandhi stands as one of the most influential figures in history, where some regard him as the greatest leader. Being as so Britain has suppressed India for years, exploiting them for their cotton and using the resource to develop their own cloth industry, the Indian National Congress was made with the sole purpose to transcend colonialism. Bearing most of the weight from the movement, Mahatma Gandhi presumed leadership within the Indian National Congress. Despite other nations' attempts in gaining independence from imperialistic nations, which involved heavy rioting and violence, Mahatma Gandhi advocated for independence by means of peace and civil disobedience. In one such act and according to Britannica Kids, Mahatma conducted the Salt March, where he along with his followers collected sea salt, a product that the British had banished the population from owning, and marched. With his voice and actions, Mahatma represented India's peasants, being as so they were the ones who were heavily affected by the ban on sea salt. Furthering his footprint on society and based on LINCS, Mahatma had directly influence Martin Luther King Jr., an influential figure in American society who has fought for human rights of colored individuals by similar means of non-violence. Martin described Mahatma's beliefs as “the only morally and practically sound method open to oppressed people in their struggle for freedom".

The 'greatest leader of all time' can change from person to person based on who they believe truly impacted society in the greatest manner, but in my opinion, the greatest leader of all time was Abraham Lincoln. He was not without his faults and criticisms, of course, but no great leader comes without faults. During the nation's most divisive period, the civil war, Lincoln remained strong and kept his stance until he was able to unite the United States and abolish slavery, with the creation of the Emancipation Proclamation, which, while it did not abolish slavery, it would create a foundation for the abolition of slavery in the U.S. Lincoln's both political skills and speech skills were outstanding and Lincoln was also known for being open to listen as a leader, even to opposing viewpoints. Abraham Lincoln was compassionate to soldiers and citizens during the war, even inspired future generations to lead just as he did during the time of his presidency. Post-Civil War, Abraham Lincoln laid the groundwork for reconstructing, and advocated for civil rights for all Americans, regardless of race, changing the future of the United States for the better. For all of these reasons, and possibly even more, I believe that Abraham Lincoln was the greatest leader of all time.

I forgot to add about Lincoln's support of the 13th amendment which actually did abolish slavery completely in the United States.

In my opinion, Deng Xiaoping was the greatest leader of all time. Although some of his responses to protests during are questionable, but his impact to modernize China was substantial. Before Deng, China was very isolated, and the economy was strictly planned. Deng introduced policies that allowed for free market forces to play a greater role in the economy, which led to great economic growth. He lifted millions of people out of poverty, transforming China into the world's second-largest economy. He also pushed for development in agriculture, industry, national defense, and science and technology. He distributed funds to projects like designing new missiles and a high speed railway network, laying foundation for China to become a global superpower. Even today, his are still continued and expanded upon by his successors.

The greatest leader of all time was Genghis Khan. He built the biggest contiguous empire in the world known as the Mongol Empire. Although he started from obscure and insignificant beginnings, he brought all the nomadic tribes of Mongolia under his rule. And with numerically inferior armies he defeated great empires. He forged one of the largest empires in history through his strategic brilliance, military prowess, and innovative leadership approach. The Mongols facilitated trade in the Silk Road. Without globalization would have taken longer to occur and the world would not have been the one we have know today.

In my opinion, the greatest leader of all time is Martin Luther King Jr. King altered the course of history through his peaceful protest against segregation. He led the Montgomery Bus Boycott as protest to the segregation in buses among white and black people. On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King led the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, which had over 250,000 members (known as the U.S.' largest political rally for human rights), and eventually, the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Overall, Dr. Martin Luther King serves as inspiration for peaceful change throughout the world, and it is remarkable to see his actions have such a positive effect on humanity. His fight against segregation allowed Dr. King to become the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize on October 14, 1964.

I believe Hatshepsut is the greater leader of all time. She was the pharaoh of Egypt from 1507 to 1458 BCE. Throughout Egyptian history, there have been sparse female rulers, especially at the time that she was alive. According to Britannica, she gained unprecedented power as a woman, adopting a full royal titulary. Hatshepsut's reign was mostly peaceful - her foreign policy was one based on trade, rather than war, though it has been speculated that she had a short military campaign in Nubia. She also undertook extensive building programs in Egypt: she remodeled the hypostyle hall, added the Red Chapel, and built the Speos Artemidos and the Dayr al-Bahri temple (a funerary moment for herself). Although Hatshepsut's achievements may seem typical of a ruler several centuries later, her abilities, especially as a female ruler, were practically unthought of. She rose against stereotypes and decades of male rule, and established her place in history back over 30 centuries ago.

Although no leader is perfect, the greatest leader of all time was George Washington. First, Washington played a big role in securing the independence of the United States of America, serving as the general of the Continental Army. Without him, the USA may not exist today. Even more importantly, Washington was the first president of the United States, and he set many precedents not described in the Constitution that presidents continue to follow to this day, such as serving four years a term for at most two terms. Washington also gave crucial advice that would keep USA at peace for decades, such as being neutral and isolated in foreign conflicts. Therefore, because he fought and won independence for America and led the country to thrive as a democratic nation as the first president, George Washington is the greatest leader of all time.

Napoleon Bonaparte's legacy as a great leader stems from his remarkable military prowess, strategic brilliance, and transformative impact on France and Europe. Rising from humble beginnings, he demonstrated extraordinary ambition, intelligence, and charisma, swiftly ascending to power as First Consul and later Emperor of the French. Napoleon's military campaigns, characterized by innovative tactics and audacious maneuvers, resulted in a series of stunning victories that expanded France's influence across Europe. His administrative reforms modernized French society, introducing legal, educational, and economic changes that laid the groundwork for future progress. Despite his eventual defeat and exile, Napoleon's enduring legacy as a visionary leader, military genius, and architect of modern Europe cements his place in history as one of the greatest leaders of all time.

Cleopatra was one of the most influential leaders in history. Despite often being depicted as an evil temptress, Egypt prospered under Cleopatra's rule, she supported advancements in science and medicine, and even contributed to The Great Library of Alexandria. Cleopatra was very intelligent, and was well-educated in military strategy, law, economics, linguistics, and more. It was also believed she was fluent in at least nine languages. She made cures to many illnesses, protected and made Egypt wealthier (by trading with other nations and making powerful allies), and was not even afraid to kill her own siblings to secure her crown. Overall, Cleopatra was extremely devoted to her kingdom, knowledge, and a formidable queen. She's one of the greatest leaders in history.

I believe the greatest leader of all time is Mahatma Gandhi because he is considered one of the most pivotal figures in the history of leadership and civil rights. Gandhi rose to prominence in the Indian independence cause after his return to India, using tactics such as the 1930 Salt March to protest the British salt tariff. Gandhi's most effective campaign was this one, which brought the Indian independence struggle to the attention of a global audience. His support of economic independence highlighted the value of self-sufficiency and rejection of British institutions and goods, especially by promoting home-spun textiles (khadi) as an alternative to imported textiles. Gandhi's commitment to civil rights and interfaith harmony is demonstrated by his attempts to bring Muslims and Hindus together, mainly via the Khilafat Movement, and by his leadership of nonviolent actions like the opposition to the Rowlatt Act and the terrible events of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. During his tenure as the leader of the Indian National Congress, Gandhi promoted issues, including reducing poverty, advancing women's rights, and pursuing self-rule. His vision for an independent India was based on religious diversity, a position that proved especially difficult when Muslim nationalism gained traction and demanded a separate country. This finally resulted in the 1947 division of British India into India and Pakistan. Gandhi's life devoted to promoting justice, equality, and peace was tragically ended in 1948 when a Hindu nationalist assassinated him. Gandhi became a lasting symbol of peaceful resistance and moral leadership due to his deeds and beliefs, which not only helped India achieve independence but also served as an inspiration for civil rights organizations worldwide.

Martin Luther King Jr. is widely regarded as one of the most influential and effective leaders in history due to his unwavering commitment to nonviolent resistance and civil rights. His leadership during the American civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s was marked by his exceptional oratory skills, moral integrity, and strategic vision. King's philosophy of nonviolent protest, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, empowered millions to stand against racial injustice and discrimination. His famous "I Have a Dream" speech and the peaceful marches he led, such as the March on Washington, were pivotal in advancing civil rights legislation in the United States. Despite facing immense opposition and personal threats, King remained dedicated to his principles, making him an enduring symbol of courage, equality, and justice.
