With the death of Queen Elizabeth II the monarchy should not be abolished. Despite true monarchys being a less favorable system due to a single person having complete power the government of the UK can keep the monarchy. According to bbc.com the royal family is a figure head and remains politically neutral. Because they don't have much actual power there isn't much of a reason to abolish the monarchy.

I disagree with your argument. Because the royal family is just a figure head and has no real power, there is really no reason to why the monarchy should be kept. According to Britishheritage.com, "a report from June 2022 revealed that Queen Elizabeth II and her family cost the British people £102.4 million during the previous year." All of the money that British people pay with taxes is just used to pay for grand riches and luxuries, and none of the money is used to actually benefit the people. Additionally, the monarchy was historically used as a symbol of colonialism and oppression to many who live in formerly colonized countries. It would be of great pleasure to those who were negatively affected by the British royals to see the monarchy being abolished. It's been nearly 1000 years since monarchy was first established in Britain. (news.ucr.edu) I think it's time for change.

I believe the monarchy should be ended following queen Elizabeth death. Indeed, the royal family hold little power and are mainly figureheads, they do have an impact of the citizens. Millions of tax dollars are used for the royal families weddings, funeral, and other events. Recently many UK residents had poor public resources for the heat wave in June, July and august. The UK has the facilities as well as resources to fix home heat related issues but has failed to do so, particularly because of a lack of funds. The monarchy is a interesting topic, yet in the long run, it has drained citizens of much need governmental support, that is why the monarch should be put to a end.

I think that the Monarchy in England is vital to the country and should continue to exist. While the royal family has no real power in the British government, they are wildly popular among the British people, and raise morale for the people. Because of the popularity of the royal family, the British citizens are interested in politics, and criticize their leaders often. The same cannot be said about America, where the younger generations have stopped voting completely, and many officials do not keep their promises.

Although your argument was well written, I disagree. Whilst the royal family are popular among the British people, its monarchy should be abolished, for there is no real purpose to keep it. Because the monarch does not really have any political power, its duties could easily be taken over by other political bodies. According to Independent UK, taxpayer funding has increased by 66%, with most of it, if not all of it, going towards its monarchy. This money could have been easily used toward its economy, to help improve it. Overall, UK's monarchy has provided morale for its people, but it is no longer necessary.

With the death of Queen Elizabeth II, I think that the UK should not abolish its monarchy because it would be difficult to abolish and helps unify the nation. For example, Robert Hazell, professor of government, explains that abolishing the monarchy would shake up the entire government and destroy culture embedded in British history (https://time.com). The government of the UK is currently stable, removing the monarchy would create instability in the government and create conflict among citizens. The monarchy is a huge part of British history and culture, so destroying it would drastically change the nation. Therefore, the cons of abolishing the monarchy outweigh the pros because it would change the government and hinder british patriotism.

With the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the British monarchy should not be abolished. While the Queen/King don't have any political roles, they still play a major role for the nation. The monarchy serves the UK by giving its people a sense of national identity, unity and pride. The Monarch gives British citizens a form of stability, which shouldn't be taken away. (https://www.royal.uk/role-monarchy). The royal family also help with many other things, like promoting charities, hosting over 3,000 organizations which help education, environmental issues, hospitals, and much more (https://www.royal.uk/role-royal-family). Abolishing the Monarchy would bring unnecessary chaos among UK citizens.

Although the Monarchy present in England is an important part of the cultural identity of New England, The monarchy should be abolished because it is very costly for citizens and the monarchs have no real power. For example, every year the Royal Family gets money from the Sovereign Grant, this money comes from the taxpayers of England. In 2019 the Royal Family profited $107.1 million from the grant (https://www.insider.com/where-does-the-royal-family-get-money-2017-1#every-year-the-royal-family-gets-a-chunk-of-cashfrom-taxpayers-called-the-sovereign-grant-1). Also, monarchs have very little political power in England, the government is actually led by the Prime Minister who is appointed by the Monarch(https://www.gov.uk/government/how-government-works). All in all, the Monarchy in England has no real function other than being a unifying force for its people.

With the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the monarchy should not be abolished. The monarchy, despite its flaws, remains important in the identity of the British population. Quite a few banknotes and coins contain images of the past Kings and Queens of Britain, showing their prominence. Furthermore, monarchies are actually preferred by British people: 53% of those aged between 25 and 49, according to Reuters. But in the end it really depends on whom the monarch is. The charisma Queen Elizabeth II had during her tenure helped keep Brits united during tough times, she was also politically neutral and made people feel as though she was just another person, whether or not this is true. If King Charles cannot maintain a similar image, it does indeed become hard to justify the monarchy. I do hope that the public reputation of the monarch remains, however. If executed properly, the monarchy can stay for years to come, helping people stay united through the thick and thin.

With the death of the queen, the monarchy should come to an end. The monarchy has had really no say in the government for a while, and the prime minister really holds the most power. Most of Britain does not really like the new King as much as they liked the queen. She was like a second grandmother to many and she was liked and respected because of how long she had been around. The monarchy is just a burden now to Britain. They got 107.1 million dollars last year by just existing, while the working population had to work for their money. The monarchy used to be a unifying factor between the citizens of the country, but now it's useless.

I agree with your argument because there is no real authority that the King or Queen held. The monarchy was once overthrown in 1642 where it lost most of its power. Thus, not needing the monarchy anymore and a need for an established form of government. The English monarchy is simply a reusable magazine cover and shares similar characteristics as the Kardashians, and this isn't needed to keep a country happy. The monarchy is just a ripe fruit for the press to indulge on and gives no value to the country as it once had.

I disagree with you on this matter, Rayan. With the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the UK should not abolish its monarchy due to the cultural and nationalist impact that it has left on its country. For example in the 17th century when the English monarchy was overthrown, creating an English republic, it was soon reinstated but moderated by its parliament. This can be the same case for the monarchy today, especially in monitoring its true power over its people. They hold no true power in the government, however, I believe that this gives it more of a reason to exist. The monarchy in England stands for something greater than power and position. Especially for the people of Great Britain, the monarchy stands as a monument of their own unique culture. It is something that has existed for so long, even before the formation of many countries today, that it is now seen as a form of tradition and culture. Of course there are some aspects of the monarchy that can seem showy and excessive, however this is the life that these people have lived long before the present, and it has slowly grown to be a significant part of their country's culture. In the end, the monarchy truly has no power over its people, but it is one of the unique aspects of British culture that separates itself from others, especially considering their importance and influence towards many countries around the world.

With the death of Queen Elizabeth, the monarchy should be abolished. The monarchy is a system embodying outdated values and concepts, such as a group of people, monarchs, being at a higher social standing than the rest of the country's population (citizens). Furthermore, the monarchy does not hold any of its political power and are funded by tax money collected from its citizens. Tax money from citizens is not utilized in the most efficient manner, as the money is directed towards the extravagant lifestyle of those within the monarchy. Overall, the monarchy drains money from its citizens while providing little to no benefit to them, thus having no value or reason to remain in place.

I believe although the UK's monarchy symbolizes culture and unification, the UK should abolish its monarchy because a monarchy is no longer valuable as Queen Elizabeth ll passes because even though the UK has many kings and queen, they hold no true power in the government and a monarchy is extremely expensive. For example in the UK, the Prime Minister leads the government with the help of the Cabinet and ministers (https://www.gov.uk/government/how-government-works). The role of the prime minister is to be in charge of all policy and decisions which leaves the queen (or king) the role of representational duties. Another example would be the cost of coronations and other celebrations of important people in the monarchy. The day of Queen Elizabeth ll's coronation she wore the George IV State Diadem, a crown, which was made in 1820 and had features of roses, shamrocks and thistles with 1,333 diamonds and 169 pearls costing over $3.4 billion (https://www.royal.uk/50-facts-about-queens-coronation-0)...
